Sydney’s Tash Wolf returns today with the deep-cutting ‘It Takes Two’, a bewitching guitar track which unpacks the experience of being wrongly painted as the one and only villain in a break-up while, in reality, “it takes two”. On the message behind the song, Tash has said:
“The song draws on themes of accountability and incompatibility of relationships. Sometimes a good thing can come to an end or two people just aren’t right for each other and that’s okay.
Some of my favourite lines are ‘You don’t walk on water but you’re acting holy…’ in the Pre Chorus and in the Chorus ‘It Takes Two, me plus you to F it up…’ They’re simple yet powerful and relatable lyrics. The song feels pop-leaning with influence from my Alternative and Blues/Rock roots.” TASH WOLF
While a deep-cutting tale of heartbreak and betrayal in its lyrical nature, ‘It Takes Two’ is charming and seductive in its sound, characterised by distorted guitars and, of course, Wolf’s signature warm and raspy vocals.
Recorded across both Sydney and LA, the track was written with Natania Lalwani (Nick Jonas, J Balvin, Thirty Seconds to Mars), Miranda Glory (Bella Porch, Usher), and David Burris (Violet Skies, Rebecca Black), the latter of whom also mixed the track, before it was mastered by the skilful hand of Andrei Eremin (Baker Boy, Mallrat, Tones & I, Sampa The Great, G Flip).
Having previously shared the stage with the likes of Bryan Adams and Jimmy Barnes, as well as having collaborated with artists including Dave Stewart (The Eurythmics), Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park), Bruno Major and Mahalia Barnes, Tash Wolf continues to reiterate to audiences, with each release, just how far she can (and will) go.
With tracks like ‘Electric Blue’ sitting at over 21K streams on Spotify alone, and previous support from ABC, Rolling Stone, TikTok, and Apple Music, to name a few, Tash Wolf is on the up and up, and ‘It Takes Two’ is surely not one to be missed.
