Siobhan Cotchin serves up a powerful breakup ballad with new tune ‘I’m Not Finished Yet’

In her newest release titled ‘I’m Not Finished Yet’, Perth’s very own pop rock cowgirl Siobhan Cotchin serves up a powerful breakup ballad for the ages.

Delving into what it’s like to find closure at a different pace to your counterpart at the end of a relationship, the song explores themes of anger, resentment, grudges, and the feeling of being left behind amongst it all;

“‘I’m Not Finished Yet’ is about trying to move on from someone but not getting the closure you need. The person I’m singing about has seemingly moved on so easily and that’s really frustrating to see when you’re still grieving. It’s about holding on to the past when it no longer serves any purpose. I’m a taurus so I’m stubborn as hell and really know how to hold a grudge, but when you keep holding on to the past, it brings it into your present and just isn’t good for you, so I’m trying to not do that anymore.”  SIOBHAN COTCHIN

Recorded in Perth’s Debaser Studios by Andy Lawson ((Noah Dillon, Smol Fish, Mia June, Ra Ra Viper), the single was written alongside Dylan Ollivierre (Grentperez, Meg Mac, Tia Gostelow, Holy Holy).

Touching on the process of writing the track with Dylan, as well as some of the widely-beloved inspirations that she drew from while shaping it, Siobhan said:

“I had the absolute pleasure of writing this one with Dylan Ollivierre. It started out as a bit of a tongue in cheek, sassy moment, but after going through a big breakup I naturally wanted to make it a little darker and angrier to match how I was feeling at the time.

It was quite an easy song to write because I knew exactly what I wanted to say to this person if I had the chance. Sonically, the song is very reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac so I wanted the production to really showcase that. I feel like this song is my ‘Silver Springs’.”
