Continuing to build the bright creative arc 2023 started with singles ‘Sober’ and ‘Vacant’, Melbourne indie five-piece Manorism have returned with their first release for 2024 in ‘Make It Right’.
With ‘Make It Right’, Manorism lean into the sonic world-building ‘Vacant’ and ‘Sober’ further, making this a track perfect for fans of groups including The War On Drugs, Real Estate and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. As the band describes, ‘Make It Right’ is wrapped in warm textures and a nostalgic energy.
“The single evokes a nostalgic feeling of a summer past, which backdrops a coming of age story. The song reflects the bittersweetness of growing up and persistent present pursuit of trying to remain present, and not miss this moment as it passes.”
MANORISM
For ‘Make It Right’, Manorism recorded with Malcolm Besley (Northeast Party House) at Melbourne’s Marigold Studio; while also tapping Adam Dempsey (Courtney Barnett, Eilish Gilligan) on mastering.
The new track shows continued songwriting evolution from the group, who have been building an impressive reputation for themselves locally on stages at events like Beyond The Valley and the Sun/Moon Festival, as well as beloved Melbourne haunts like The Gasometer Hotel.
Having enjoyed support via Australian outlets including triple j and Triple J Unearthed, as well as editorial playlist support via Apple Music (‘ALT CTRL’, ‘The New Rock’) and Spotify (‘Chords and Cardigans’, ‘Indie Fuzz’, ‘Indie Arrivals’), Manorism’s sphere of influence expanded in 2023. With ‘Make It Right’ and more to push them forward this year, theirs is a name audiences will be hearing more of.
To accompany the release of ‘Make It Right’, Manorism will be performing a special single launch show for fans in Melbourne this March at The Retreat Hotel.
