Melbourne’s own indie-pop sensation, chloe: the brand, has today released their first single of 2024, ‘Smokers Deck’. A showcase of Chloe's signature ethereal vocals, this release marks a promising start to what is anticipated to be a stellar year for the rising star. A confessional synth-led track, ‘Smokers Deck’ is jam-packed with lyrical themes of nostalgia, belonging and self-reflection.
“Smokers Deck is about smoking to seem cool, even though you know both the cigarette and the people around you are bad for your health.” chloe: the brand
Known for their introspective lyricism and dreamy sonic textures, chloe: the brand has spent the past few years likening themselves to alt-pop icons like Mallrat, King Princess and Yergurl. Produced and mixed by Gab Strum (Japanese Wallpaper, Alex Lahey, Allday) and mastered by Andrei Eremin (Tash Sultana, G-Flip, Tones and I), Chloeco-wrote the song with Lauren Coutts (Blusher) and recorded at home in their studio.
The single launch aligns perfectly with chloe: the brand’s next show date, where they are excited to be supporting Mia Wray at the Bergy Bandroom (VIC) on March 7th and 8th.
Since their first release ‘Thinking’, chloe: the brand has received airplay for triple j and triple j Unearthed, as well as earning a spot on the Unearthed High Report Card. They’ve also kept busy, supporting acts like Sesame Girl in February, and Drest in April last year. Previous singles have also been well supported by community radio and TV, including SYN, 4ZZZ, JOY FM, MTV.
With previous successful releases like “Co-Star”, "Thinking", "Stranger 2 Me", and "Left of Centre" amassing thousands of streams across all platforms, chloe: the brand has garnered praise from critics and media alike, with Triple J's Anika Luna hailing their storytelling ability as "impeccable".
